Me as a student
Greetings! This is Yue. I’m currently an undergrad at UIUC majoring in Computer Science. I have a broad interest in CS. The courses I have taken can be as practical as implementing malloc, as theoretical as analyzing randomized algorithms, or as entertaining as “drawing” smilely face on images ;)
Mathematics has also been a significant part of my college life. I was once lost in hard proofs, unable to figure out why I wanted to read abstract things. But those challenges equipped me with the ability to approach rigorous definitions and theorems without hesitation or fear. Although I am probably not the person who can talk about the beauty of mathematics, I genuinely enjoyed my journey through it.
Me as a researcher
My academic journey has led me to develop a deep interest in cryptography. In Spring 2024, I took CS 598 (Multi-party Computation) with prof. David Heath, whose guidance introduced me to the this fascinating field. That experience inspired me to explore furthur into applied cryptography, where I had the opportunity to assisted prof. Ling Ren with his OnionPIR project.
Me as an enthusiastic amateur photographer
When taking pictures, I don’t want to take it too serious. I don’t want my photos to look too professional. Instead, I want them to look warm, peaceful, full of vitality.
